The hardest thing for me to talk about is what really happened in my home, where  I lived as a child and as a teenager. I've made it an art to walk away from imagined confrontations with my mother, frightened enough never to actually do it, always keeping my mouth shut, plagued with too much uncertainty of what could happen if I talked, reluctant ( Read more... )

Even knowing your story as well as I do, this broke my heart. It's excellent, of course: immaculately written, articulate, devastating. It deserves a wider audience than it will get here. Like you said, it's a beginning.

I have been looking for somewhere to talk too.

But really, I just want someone I can trust to take my hand and tell me how to fix this. I want to trust someone to know what is right.

Not sure what your story is, took a quick look at your journal and discovered you're a college student. I highly recommend therapy. A good therapist can lead you down all the right paths. It's a painful process but worth all the discomfort in the end. Forgiveness is a tough thing to do, but it's absolutely necessary for healing to take place. You can change your life, feel good about who you are and move on. It is possible. Just know going in that you can't fix it. No one can. Our past is always with us. But we can rise above it. However, there will be those days...
