Well, you're really right about the whole ego boost thing on the last one, but the whole point of the little thingy was that it IS an ego boost. People will always need compliments, and you're right about them being most important from your peers. I think it's because most people don't listen to the compliments handed to them by their parents, thinking them obligatory, and several people don't get any from anyone else on a regular basis. Also, you can find out what someone really thinks about you, saving you the trouble of asking randomly.
