I've done this before and I posted it on soompi, but I'll bring it over to livejournal with some other additional info and some corrections (:

Names are not just names. They have a meaning. Every name has a meaning.
So what do Super Junior's members' names mean?

Check it out under the cut.

Ooh these are super helpful, thank you!

Just a small note of confusion: I thought Kibum's Chinese name was "基范"?

And I thought Kyuhyun was 奎贤 (kui xian), and his last name is either 曹(cao) or 周 (zhou), but... I don't know. I was talking to my mom about this, and she said that even though his Chinese name be "translated" as 圭贤 ("gui xian"), there aren't very many names that have the character 圭 ("gui") in it because it sounds strange. But. I don't know, Chinese can be a very fickle language? \o\

Oh, and I've also seen Ryeowook's name written as 历旭 and 丽旭 (which means "beautiful sunrise" :D).

These are the Hanja based characters though, they're not translated?
They may have different Chinese characters when their names are used in China, (for easier/different pronunciation?) but these are the Hanja based off their stage names. But if this isn't where you were going, then you can ignore this! :D

The Hanja names I used were based on their official stage names, so they should be their correct Chinese names. A lot of fans call Ryeowook 丽旭 because "ryeo" can also be translated to 丽.

LOL I don't know what i'm saying, but yeah, lol.

At first I thought Kyuhyun was 奎贤 too but when I checked their official site, it was 圭贤.
