I just spoke to Tim about this - if the hotel is driving Y and the kids nuts - or the kids have nothing/no one to play with, etc.....

We'd very much like for them to come stay here. We'll be away - there's a kitchen, play stuff in the back yard, and a big bathtub and a house full of toys for our 7 yr old - there's a bunk bed in that room, and three kitties that would LOVE the attention.

call me at 519-843 2117. We're in Fergus - so you may have had some better offers for location (or they may be happy in the hotel) I'm just thinking that there are toys and nice neigborhood kids here to play with - and that might just sway me if I were in their shoes.

Oh! there is also a garage with space in it for the offers of stuff coming from other people. It's all yours, as long as you need it.

Only catch - I'd need to know soon. I WISH it weren't so late. If by some chance you get this and are up - so am I. :) Sorry I didn't have your email to do this privately. Please feel free to call tomorrow.

Well if that is the case, otonabee August 2 2007, 11:03:30 UTC
We really (really) can help. Our house will likely be getting torn down in the next 2 months or so and everything (insert cheezy voice here) Must Go!

Some things have already been spoken for but I do have two drawer sets (black modern IKEA), a bathroom full of fixtures (down to the towel rods), a set of 8 (at least) matching china set (bowls, plates, dessert pates, cups), a few hanging lighting fixtures, possibly some curtains and a whole whack of other bits. Some of this stuff was going to go to Habitat but if you would like some of it, it is yours for the taking!!

We are also becoming very aware of pitfalls and issues with house construction. We are just at the final stages of house design looking towards getting a building permit (in Toronto granted...) So if there is anything we can do on that front do let us know.

I'll send you an email.
Donna

Take care

best wishes all around whether you will be getting to pennsic or not. There doesn't seem to be much I can do from as far away as I am (and in terms of clothing, well my stuff will swim on any of you :p ). It sounds like a heck of a shock, but you are well on teh road to managing it. Are the kids managing to adjust? At least you have time to find a routine before they hit school again.

Can I put a link to your journal on the E_list? People are asking....

I'd rather not ...

I'm not a very public person about my personal life, and while I don't mind sharing with my LJ friends, I feel strange putting my life out on display to every person on the E-List, known or not.

I imagine if I get back to Pennsylvania this weekend to pick up my car and swing by Pennsic to get my stuff, I'll talk to a number of people.

And honestly, that many good intentioned people will bombard us more than we can take right now.

If you want to reply to the E-List and tell them everyone is all right, and everything is still up in the air as far as the house goes, that would be appreciated.

Besides - black5sugars is my secret identity ... :)

Do you have/need transport down there? I'm sure we can arrange something, if not...

I find it interesting that your home owners policy is not replacement cost. While insurance in principal pays on a depreciated (Actual Cash Value - ACV) basis the reality of most property insurance today is to underwrite and pay out on a replacement cost basis and not ACV.

Do you have an insurance broker? If yes talk to them about this. Whether you do or not ask for a copy of your policy wording and read it carefully to see how you are to be indemified.

Contact me if you wish to discuss further I work in the industry.
