Something lifted my mood today and made me smile. I was talking about coats and jackets with my mom and she was saying how one of her fleeces was too long for her. I had told her before that I bet it would fit me. Then today I said that I would try it out to see whether it would fit me. She was reluctant saying that it wouldn't, but when I put it

Heh, I remember when I told my mom I needed a tie for my band performance (even though girls wore skirts and guys wore ties), and the first time she picked out a tie from my dad's collection for me, tied it and put it around me. It was a nice experience.

Sounds like she may be coming to the point of acceptance. Even if it is apprehensive at first. This is a good sign. Congrats!

I don't think the whole coat thing was such a big deal for my mom. It was, however, nice to see her accept something I a little new for her.

The reason I was so happy was that I felt it demonstrated a potential for a more open minded mom. It made me think there was a good chance my mom would be able accept other new things about me in good time.
