Who: Kagetsuya and Chihaya
What: Christmas fluff
Where: Their apartment
When: Christmas morning
Why: Because I needed fluff to break up the Pride!Angst >.>;;;

Christmas was not his favorite time of the year. It consisted of being woken up early in the morning all for the purpose of unwrapping gifts that the person either wouldn't like, would use once and never touch again, or use once and break it. Of course he understood why the holiday existed, but was decorating a tree and home, and giving presents really necessary? But Chihaya loved it so what else was he supposed to do? When the dark-haired angel had woken Kagetsuya up, he'd headed straight for the bathroom to take a cold shower in hopes of truly waking up. Kagetsuya wasn't looking forward to spending the entire day watching those disgusting movies humans put together, but if he turned Chihaya down it would only make him sad. Again. The angel didn't leave the bathroom until he managed to actually talk himself into it.

Ever since waking Kagetsuya up, Chihaya had been busy bustling about their apartment, making sure that everything was absolutely perfect. He wanted the day to go off without a hitch so that he could make his partner happy since he knew that the blonde didn't really care for this time of year. For Chihaya it had always been a special time of year, especially when Lord Michael had adopted him and he'd been able to spend it with a real family, though he'd loved the Christmases he'd spent in the orphanage. Celebrating it with Kagetsuya, however, was different because, although Chihaya had loved the women that had run the orphanage, and he loved Lord Michael, he didn't love them the way he loved Kagetsuya and it was for him that Chihaya fiddle with the bow on his partner's present until it didn't look so squashed on the right side. But then the left side looked squashed by comparison so he had to fix that side. And then he accidentally squooshed the right side as he was fixing the left and so he had to fix that side again . . .

Kagetsuya's thoughts of how ridiculous the holiday was only intensified when he saw what it was that his partner was doing. It was only a stupid bow that was going to be thrown out anyway! Did it really matter? The blonde made a mental promise to not do something to upset Chihaya today if he could help it. It was Christmas, after all, and while Kagetsuya hated it, the most important person in his life did not. With a sigh he went to where the other angel was, crouched down, and gently kissed his temple. "If you keep fiddling with that bow, Chihaya, I'm going to have to take it away from you," he quietly warned. And he didn't understand why all the other angels had always made such a fuss over the holiday. All Christmas was centered around was presents. Maybe that idiotic fish had been right; the angels were just as bad as the humans.

Chihaya blushed as he realized that he wasn't alone anymore and he spun around to see his partner, unable to keep from smiling, even if the blonde was a bit of a Scrooge -- Chihaya held out hope that, one day, Kagetsuya would meet his own ghosts of Christmas and see the holiday for the good it caused. Until then, Chihaya would just have to do their jobs for them as best he could. "I just wanted your present to look perfect," he said with a sheepish smile as he held the box out to his partner with both hands. "It's the least you deserve. Merry Christmas, Kagetsuya." There was on other gift for his partner under the tree -- this one sent from Lord Michael along with Chihaya's own gift -- but he'd made absolutely certain that the blonde didn't open that one up until Christmas either. That and Chihaya was just a little selfish because he wanted Kagetsuya to open his gift first.

There still wasn't any reason to want a present to look perfect if it was only going to be opened and the wrapping paper thrown out! But, again, it was what made Chihaya happy, so he would try to act happy, too. Kagetsuya took the gift with a mental sigh and then searched under the tree with his free hand for the present he'd bought Chihaya. He loved spending time with the other angel when he could, but he preferred it to be on his own time, not when he was forced to! He offered the gift he'd wrapped (and hadn't nearly panicked over) to his partner with a smile. "Merry Christmas, Chihaya." If the holiday didn't last for so long it wouldn't be bad; what were they supposed to do after opening presents? Sit around and talk about snow, bells, and mistletoe all day? Halloween was a better holiday! At least that one was interesting.

Chihaya's eyes lit up like a child's when he saw his partner's present for him. It was beautiful and he almost didn't want to open it up, not wanting to ruin the wonderful job Kagetsuya had done. He'd open eventually, though, because there was obviously something inside of it that the blonde had put a lot of thought into and so Chihaya compromised with himself, deciding that he could at least keep the wrapping intact for a little bit longer. "Open yours first?" he asked Kagetsuya. "I've been waiting to give you your present for ages and I can't wait to see how you like it." That was, of course, the truth and Chihaya hoped with all his might that his partner liked the gift he'd gotten him and, in the meantime, he'd be able to keep his own present wrapped up for just a little bit longer.

Ages? Hadn't Chihaya bought him the gift a few weeks ago, if even that? Kagetsuya set the present in his lap and eyed it for a moment. It could have been anything ranging from perfect to worthless. Since it was coming from Chihaya, someone he would have thought knew him the best, it was likely in the former category rather than the latter. And the wrapping really was beautiful. Kagetsuya glanced at Chihaya and then set to opening the present, wondering why his partner was so excited about giving something rather than receiving. He really was so silly. And when he opened it (after being careful to not destroy the wrapping so as not to upset his partner) he realized just why he'd been so anxious. It wasn't anything like a diamond-studded watch, but to Kagetsuya, it was worth far more. And would get much more use than a silly watch would. Leave it to Chihaya to know just what to get him; a cookbook with hundreds of recipes from all over the world. There really wasn't much else he could get a better use of. Kagetsuya slipped one hand behind his partner's neck to tug him closer, then kissed him soundly on the mouth.

Chihaya watched his partner eagerly as he opened his present (though he did steal occasional glances down at his own gift) and, when he saw the expression on Kagetsuya's face, he just knew that he'd gotten it right. He probably shouldn't have been worried in the first place, but he simply couldn't help it, it was just in his nature. When the blonde reached out for him, Chihaya scooted a bit closer to him and kissed him in return. He was so caught up in the kiss that he didn't even notice his hand drifting to the floor with Kagetsuya's present for him before lifting to wrap around his partner's neck. He didn't even care, at that moment, if Kagetsuya had gotten him a gift because the kiss and the fact that he'd obviously liked Chihaya's gift was enough of a Christmas present for him.

If they got too distracted by kissing then they were never going to get to Chihaya opening his own gift. Kagetsuya sat back again and set the large cookbook aside so it wouldn't get in the way. If he could, he would make something for dinner from it, but that would depend upon if he already had the ingredients for anything he would want to try. If not, there was always the option of shopping early in the morning the following day so he could buy enough things to make three meals every day from the book for a week. He couldn't wait to start looking through it. "Open yours, Chihaya," he said with a small smile. Hopefully he would like his gift, too, as it wasn't anything extremely expensive, but it did fit him. Not that Kagetsuya had to worry since Chihaya seemed to like anything and everything.

That was right! There was another gift to open! Well, technically there were two more gifts to open but, while Lord Michael's gifts were very important, to Chihaya, Kagetsuya's was the one that mattered the most. He nodded and turned to pick up the gift he'd put down after remember that he had put it down. Chihaya picked it up again and carefully began unwrapping it, trying not to mangle the wrapping paper since it really was so pretty and, when he saw what was inside, he smiled brightly up at his partner and practically threw himself into the blonde's lap. "Thank you!" he said, looking at the beautiful stationary in his hand over Kagetsuya's shoulder. He would be able to write so many letters with it and he just knew that it would brighten up the days of everyone who read them>

While Kagetsuya had expected his partner to like the gift, he hadn't expected to be jumped on. And it was so early in the morning, too. Nonetheless, he wrapped his arms around Chihaya and embraced him tightly. He could have bought him a pair of plain white socks and Chihaya would have told him how perfect the gift was because his favorite pair had holes in them. He really could make the most ridiculous thing into something far better. Kagetsuya pressed his face into his partner's dark hair, enjoying the comforting weight of him in his lap, and wished that for once, he could tell others, too, how wonderful his lover was.
