How difficult was the battery to replace?

I've an old iPod laying around here that is donated, but don't know what's wrong with it. I suspect the battery but can't be sure... I've been staring at Rockbox and friends a while now trying to decide if it's worth fiddling with :)

The battery was a fairly easy fix. The hardest part was opening up the case, and that took about 40 seconds with the special tools they send with a replacement. It's a small ribbon. Plenty of video's on youtube that show ya how. If it's a nano or mini, might be a little different.

Battery is a very common problem, if not, then it's the HDD, which you can get replacement ones of. I like rockbox, and what i like even more about it is it installs besides the ipod OS, so if you need to use the original software, no problem. You just use the ipod in diskmode, make a folder in the root, and rockbox easily can find it. It also has a database function to pull up all the music from itunes on there. I've installed rockbox onto my older bro's ipod mini and he's really liking it, so let me know if you have questions on it!
