Huh. I think the trick for a character being a true little black dress is that they have to have both a distinctive personality and a propensity for interacting with people, such that you can not only imagine them in all sorts of situations and interactions but are entertained at the very particular reactions they're likely to have and/or evoke.

I agree with many of the above choices (Michael Westen, James Bond, Jack Harkness, Lex Luthor, and Dean Winchester all sprang pretty quickly to mind, and I feel like there's a certain level of consensus about their use as such).

*grin* Part of the fun of bandom is the instinct to pair everyone up with everyone else, so it's almost a question of who's not one. But I've been noticing recently Bob Bryar showing up completely randomly in non-MCR fic, so maybe him especially. Gerard also seems to have the tendency to pop up randomly, and that may be part of the very definition of Pete. Patrick and Frank, maybe? Though some people are also pretty OTP about Pete/Patrick and Gerard/Frank, and
