Race For Life

Mar 26, 2008 18:50

So, Tink and I are doing the Race For Life on the 13th July this year.  Me being me, and with my hips being as wonky as they are, we'll be walking it - but that doesn't mean it's not going to be a challenge!

Our fundraising page is here, sob stories and all.  ;-)

Please feel free to pass this on - 'tis for a good cause, dontcha know!

Is the race for life all for cancer? What happened to the limbless orphans in eastern europe? :-)

Yes, it's just for cancer.

Which is another of the things that I am whole-heartedly in support of research for, given that I will get it at some point.

Orphans in Bulgaria are still on the agenda - I don't think they're going away anywhere, sadly. If Tesco would do a huge sponsored event in aid of them, I'd be doing that too. Feel free to write to them...

Zork, that sounded snarky on a re-read! What I meant was - how are things progressing with the planned art auction to make money for that cause everyone was talking about for a fortnight or so last year?

AGH!

There is no way not to make that question sound snarky. I apologise.

You can probably edit comments... it's one luxury of the written format that, regrettably, isn't available in spoken life.

completely OT, but I hadn't realised how much I missed Unexpected Naked Jack until now. Look at him go! I bet he could keep that up for hours. (I hope you have backups of the ones the LJ Accounts Facisti removed... that one in costume was especially good)

There are so many causes though, aren't there. Cancer, AIDS, intellectually handicapped, burns, famine, flood, genocide... it's what comes from living in such a big world I suppose.

Perhaps Unexpected Naked Jack should put in an appearance at the Run for Life. There's nothing like a celebrity endorsement to help these things along.

There really are so many causes - you can only support so many, I guess. Cancer is a big one for me because it runs on both sides of the family, and while I'm not convinced there'll be a cure if my parents get it, it might be my generation that gets lucky. So I'm all for supporting research on it.

I realised that I didn't have an appropriate icon, so as Naked Jack just keeps on running, he seemed the best choice... ;-)

And I can't edit comments, I can only delete them, but if you get them emailed then there's no point...plus I wanted to know the answer, I just coulnd't work out how to phrase the (&$"$" question right!

Possibly, "Are you doing this in addition to the art auction you were planning last year?", maybe? :-)

Woo hoo! Just noticed this post after my LJ absence. I'm doing one in York on July 6th - I'll sponsor you if you sponsor me :P

I'm really scared I'm going to make a fool of myself as I'm going to run it, or try to :/

My sponsor link is on my LJ - can't give you funds til May 26th but promise I'll contribute then :)
