I hate that this community is so dead, it used to be one of my favorites.

In an effort for people to start posting again, I'm posting some of my length progress.

Congratulations!
I want to know your regimen!
have you seen hairlista.com? It's a nice substitute until this community picks up again.

I sooo wanna know your hair regimen!! I'm a transitioning natural right now I havent had a relaxer in like 4 and a half months and my relaxed hair is breaking off so I'm wearing braids right now so it'll grow back.

i'm in the same boat. once i'm done with these braids, i think i'm just going to cut the relaxed ends. i don't know how else to deal with stopping the breakage.

Do it, it will seem hard in the beginning but after awhile it will be worth it. I have been natural for a year and a few months and I love it, good luck.

When I was transitioning, I never did a big chop. I trimmed my ends and let them break off until one day I just happened to have all natural hair. So, the relaxed ends breaking is not the end of the world. :) Just keep moisturizing and sealing, and keep your ends protected. Eventually those ends will be gone anyway! :)

I'd love to know what you do to straighten! I haven't straightened mine in about three months because mine reverts pretty much automatically if there's a glass of water in the room. Plus my iron broke and while I don't mind using my mom's professional hot comb, I can't do that myself. So I'm in the market for new tools.

Excellent work! I'm hovering somewhere around your midway point, I think, so I know exactly what you mean about the time.

Humidity is still a huge issue for me, especially in Chicago's humid summers. And it only gets worse the longer your hair grows because you have so much hair; it can get hot! Heat training would help that tremendously. I used to heat train and one night I stood outside in the RAIN and fog and my hair did not revert!(Coconut oil helped too. :)) My hair is no longer heat trained, so straightening my hair in any weather hotter than 75 degrees is not gonna work out. I kinda just embrace it and sport my fro, or keep it bunned 24/7 which promotes awesome retention. Then during winter I rock the straight look mostly, which is nice because it eliminates single strand knots! Find a good oil (Jojoba, Argon, Jamaican Black castor oil, Coconut, Almond, etc..).
