Itchiness can be caused by tightness of the braid/twist, I think. Also it could be whatever product that you are using when you put them in.

I hadn't even thought of a product allergy. I'll try switching things up the next time I do twists and see if it helps.

I'm having the same problem!
I got cornrows last week and ever since my scalp is on MAJOR itch status
Granted, the braids were really tight but I loosened them and I've been oiling my scalp, moisturizing it etc.. and no luck. My scalp itches whenever I put ANY tension in my hair which is irritating. How am I suppose to protective style when my scalp won't allow it? *sigh* good luck girl you're not alone.

Ouch! That's one of the reasons I rarely let anyone other than my mom braid my hair anymore--I can't stand how tight they usually braid. I don't think tightness is my itch problem though, since I did these twists myself.
Glad to know I'm not the only one with these problems; if I figure out some magic itch-solving miracle, I'll be sure to pass it along!

Yea I moved away from home & going home every time I want some braids isn't an option. It was the 1st time I let someone else do my hair too. They only lasted 2 weeks :(
