Flat iron + curling iron recommendations?

I've been browsing Folica for 2 weeks for one of each of the above mentioned hair appliance. I cant bring myself to make a definite purchase because there's always a handful of user comments in the review section  that are essentially "WORST APPLIANCE EVER!!!! DONT BE FOOLED BY THE HYPE!!!!!". They're the clear minority, but I cant help but wonder!

I like GVP its the Sally Beauty equivalent to the CHI but it's cheaper and if you have a beauty card you can get it cheaper and they usually offer a free gift or something. Anyways I have had it for 3 years and I'm only getting a new one cause I've left it on way too often and I scratched one of the plates. & I just want a new one lol but it gets the job done!

look up bioionics. i used to work somewhere that sold them and won one from a contest - their iron's plates are baked with minerals in and they actually re-hydrate the hair shaft. i forget a lot of the explanation on how, but their shit is actually legitimate. they do a test with their hair dryers where you blow one hand with a regular one and one hand with theirs, and the hand that theirs hit is like its just been hit with a gentle lotion. i've been using their freestyle forever to iron and curl my hair and the smoothness is amazing. especially considered how thoroughly bleached the fuck out my ends are. as far as chi, their ORIGINAL irons were great. that's where a lot of the hype comes from. they changed their stuff up and now the quality is significantly poorer. i'm not sure why they did that, but it happened much to the dismay of..everybody.

and btw, you definitely get what you pay for.
as a cosmetologist who is used to putting in an investment for high quality stuff that lasts a long time, it's 100% true.
