I haven't. Yet.

Two days into the new year and it's already looking better than the last one. That's vaguely reassuring.

Of course, we have a dog now, so things could always be better.

Be honest: Who's broken their New Year's resolutions already?

new year, things are mostly looking up, mangy mutt

I don't have a resolution. Are you supposed to make one?

It's just a tradition, not a requirement.

Oh...A tradition, huh? I guess a lot of people have resolutions then.

What do resolutions do for you, anyways? If you break them, why do you make them in the first place?

They're for self-improvement, I suppose. A lot of people have trouble sticking to things like that.

Vaguely.

Well, maybe a little more than vaguely.

Well there's still a chance that everything could go to shit, but one of my resolutions is to focus on the positive rather than the negative.

Ah, that's one of mine, too.

I haven't met the dog yet...

It's a dog; there's not much to meet.

Well, there's also a reindeer on your ship too, which of course I haven't met either!

But I suppose this is just a regular old smelly dog?

The dog is just a dog. The reindeer is a person.

Whats a 'resolution'?

Reply

black_hat_cat January 3 2010, 02:37:09 UTC
Something that one resolves to do. A new year's resolution is a tradition here; on New Year's Eve, one resolves to do something in the new year. It's like a promise. Only a lot of people don't keep theirs, because it isn't a very important tradition anymore, I suppose.

It sounds important!

Why would anyone want to break it?

Reply

black_hat_cat January 3 2010, 02:46:43 UTC
Because it's not as important as it sounds.

Have we met?

...Have we met?

If I killed someone you know, I promise it wasn't personal.
