Well, today I gave some money to ICRC, signed up to give blood in a few weeks, and wrote letters to Sen. Dianne Feinstein,Sen. Barbara Boxer,Rep. Sam Farr, and El PresidenteIn case you hadn't heard, the mayor of New Orleans told the public to "Organize people to write letters and make calls to their congressmen, to the president, to the governor.

That's very generous. I would contact the Red Cross. They already have an infrastructure of aid and simply need time/money from people to make it work.
