How did you find out about LHL?: Uh, I made it, dude.
Character
Name: Bellatrix Callidora Black.
House: Slytherin.
Age: Sixteen.
Year: Sixth.
Sexuality: Though she is dating Rodolphus Lestrange, Bellatrix is very candid about her sexuality. If it exists at all, one would never know, even to watch her every day at school. Outside of Narcissa and Andromeda [and occasionally Regulus or Rodolphus], Bellatrix doesn't even seem to show interest in anyone, let alone love or affection. Were she ever to find someone who truly met her standards, gender would be irrelevant. It's about abilities and power for her, not physical appearances or gender.
Nationality: British.
Ethnicity: European; Cacausian.
Bloodline/Lineage: Pureblood.
Birthday: August 1st, 1959.
Wand: Twelve and three quarter inches, walnut, with a core of dragon heartstring.
Pet: A snowy owl named Alanis. She is technically owned by both Bella and Andy, since their parents bought her to deliver the twins' post in their first year.
Family: Andromeda Black [Twin Sister], Narcissa Black [Younger Sister], Sirius Black [Cousin], and Regulus Black [Cousin]. Bellatrix's parents are Cygnus and Druella Black [nee Rosier]. Since the Blacks are quite old blood, she presumably has distant relation to many of the other pure blooded students at school.
Boggart: Injured/dead versions of either Andromeda and or Narcissa. They are the two people she is closest with, and cares the very most about, and the idea of losing one or both of them is quite a terrifying thought to Bella.
Patronus: Crocodile.
Play By: Olivia Wilde.
Quidditch: No.
Prefect: No.
Other Extra Curricular: Officially, Bellatrix isn't a member of any particular clubs. She will occasionally accompany Andromeda on her prefect rounds, or other clubs that her sisters are involved in, but doesn't show any interest of her own. However, there is a rumor going around that she is apart of the this underground dueling club that's happening this year, as well as a group of pro-war student activists made up mostly of Slytherin and Ravenclaw house.
Planned Future Career: She's unsure. Her parents are, of course, expecting her to settle down with a proper pure blooded husband, but she isn't exactly sure what she wants for herself yet.
Abilities:
Raised in a pure blood family, Bellatrix is very familiar with old magic, and with dark arts as well, given the background of her relatives. She is quite good at dueling, something she had personally spent time practicing over the years; she can best both of her sisters, as well as cousins, though she would never really do any damage to any of them. Well, maybe Sirius. She also has a talent in Occlumency/Legilimency, something that not a lot of people know about her. She finds that performing the arts, however, tire her out slightly, and so she rarely uses them unless she really feels the need to. The Blacks have also taught all three of their daughters about the Unforgivables.
Strengths:
Bellatrix is very good at detaching herself from any situation, emotionally. Without hesitation, she is able to carry out whatever is expected of her, no matter the cost, or what she may feel personally; she is all about keeping up appearances and proving herself. Her pure blood status, as well as domineering attitude, allow her to garner respect [or at least obedience] from her classmates quite easily. She is quick with her wand, handy with hexes and curses, and excellent to have in a duel. Her marks are excellent, and she really is quite intelligent, though she is unlikely to loan this intelligence to anyone elses cause other than her own.
Weaknesses:
Three of Bella's largest downfalls include her arrogance, her devotion to her sisters, and her selfish attitude. Her arrogance often causes her to over estimate her abilities, and can sometimes leave her rather angry [and humiliated] when she ends up proven wrong, or defeated. Her devotion to her sisters is unwavering, and has a tendency to cloud her judgment, as well as set her off into anger at a small provocation. Her selfishness really costs herself on the social scale, hand-in-hand with her arrogance, since she is just as stuck-up as any member of her family [outside of Sirius & Andromeda], and truly believes herself to be above most other witches and wizards.
Personality:
Bellatrix Black almost immediately comes off as a frigid and cruel girl, and this is pretty much true. She is a genuine ice queen at heart, and shows very little in the way of emotion, expression, or anything otherwise. Seeing her laugh or smile is scarcely a miracle of sorts. Bella is mostly solemn and serious, and though she truly has a nasty temper and a nasty disposition, she does try to remain as calm and reserved as she can in public, lest she soil the Black family's good name. It just wouldn't do for such a thing to happen. And so she keeps up a facade of sorts, in the public eye, and encourages her sisters and cousins to do the same.. although Sirius really does not listen. She manages to keep her temper in check for this purpose, as awful as that temper may be boiling up on the inside.
She adores her family, and has extreme pride in her bloodline. She is quick to lose her temper on anyone who even dares to slander their name, or even come close to doing so; she takes every word against her family as a personal attack, and reacts as such. She attends every gathering, every party, everything that they tell her to do, and she also follows every belief and opinion that they feed to her. She seems not to care whether it is a logical belief, whether it is biased or prejudice. She follows her family's ideals of pure blood supremacy to an extreme, as she is of the opinion that pure blooded families should be in charge of more or less everything in their world, and that all muggles [and muggle borns of course] should either be enslaved, or killed all together, rather than soil the Wizard's world with their unworthy presence.
Bella is not above breaking school rules to achieve her means and meet her ends, though she knows how to evade being caught, or at least how to frame someone in her place. She has only had a handful of detentions in her six years at school, when she really should have had many, many more. She doesn't believe that it would do for a Black to end up in detention [again not counting Sirius; he's a lost cause!], and so she has a good talent for talking her way out bad situations, or using her bloodline to sway her way, when she can. And if all else fails? Well, she'll find a way.
Despite all of her proper ways and false faces, however, the truth is that under her solemn expressions, Bellatrix is very cruel, and very sadistic. She is stuck-up, spoiled, but talented; Bella is fiery, as well as passionate and determined, when she wants to work toward something, or work for someone. She will not let anything stand in her way, no matter the cost, and has a keen ability to cut herself off emotionally to complete her goals. And even though Andromeda frowns upon it, Bella has an extreme interest in the dark arts, Unforgivably curses, and this supposed 'Voldemort' fellow who's rising in the world these days. She is arrogant, selfish, and looks out for herself as number one. She seems to enjoy pain, mostly that of others, and has no trouble in speaking down to others, and treating them like the trash beneath her perfect feet.
She is also capable of extreme loyalty, but it is reserved for only people that she views as worthy. Which is quite a short list. Mostly pure bloods, and fellow Slytherins. At the very top of the list, however, are Narcissa and Andromeda Black. Out of everyone in her life, and in her family, Bellatrix is closest with her twin and their baby sister, and she would do anything to please them and make sure that they're happy at all times. Even if it might keep her from making rational choices sometimes. If you do happen to chance seeing Bella smiling, it's usually only around one of these two.
History:
Born just a few moments before her twin sister, Bellatrix Black is [technically] the eldest daughter of Druella & Cygnus Black. One year after the twins, Druella and Cygnus welcomed their third daughter, and completed their immediate family. Their parents had wished for boys, or at least one boy, to carry of the family name, but they were more than happy with their daughters, and cared for them deeply all of their lives. The Noble and Most Ancient House of Black was a pure blooded family in every way, from views to the level of their wealth, and all three of the Black sisters were treated [and spoiled] as such. With endless supplies of nannies & maids, Galleons, any things they desired, and a lavish mansion home in the countryside, Bellatrix was used to a life of luxury from the moment that she came into the world.
Bella was raised to believe in her family's pure blooded supremacy views, hating muggles [and muggle borns by proxy], and their stuck-up attitude. She was from the best blood, and was raised to be proud of that, and make sure that everyone else was aware of it, too. From a young age, Bella [along with Cissy & Andy both] was taught about the family's history, and their legacy, and it wasn't long before she was having nightmares about seeing herself burned from the tapestry.
Bellatrix found her place as the protective and doting eldest sister with ease; she was close to Andy and Cissy all of their lives, and let nothing come between them, or cause harm or upset to her siblings. This was something that remained constant from the beginning, even up until now in their teenage years. They had lots of playmates among fellow pure blood families, the ones whom their family associated with at least, but the Black sisters always found more amusement in each other, playing in their own special little world, with their secrets and games never ending. Bella and Andy showed their magic at a young age, as toddlers, and they worried for Narcissa, who didn't actually show any signs until she was nearly ten. When she finally did manage, Bella was so happy that she actually cried in joy, laughing and embracing both of her sisters.
When she turned eleven, both she and Andromeda received their letters of acceptance from Hogwarts, and they [as well as their parents and little sister] were completely thrilled. Cygnus had considered enrolling his girls in Durmstrang, but it was Druella who talked him into Hogwarts instead. After the letters arrived, all of the necessary preparations were made, and it was no surprise when both of the Black twins were sorted into the Slytherin house, just the same as all of the Black family members before them. Narcissa joined them at school the next year, and was sorted into Slytherin along side her sisters, which pleased all three of them greatly.
Bella was a good student [and she aced her OWLs this past year], and never really had any sort of trouble with her lessons. Always very stuck-up and self-assured in school, she didn't show hesitation. She has never had an issue with socializing either, although she makes sure to keep proper company, and can be rather snotty and selective in her choices. Even a Slytherin might not meet her standards, if they're half or muggle blooded.
From the time the Black sisters were born, their futures were planned for them by their parents. At least in romance. Druella has made it very clear to all three of her daughters that they are to be married, and only to someone who is worthy of their pure blooded lineage. The Blacks made an agreement with the Lestrange family that their two eldest daughters would be married to their two eldest sons; Rodolphus and Rabastan respectively. Narcissa was promised to the Malfoy family, and their only son, Lucius. Unlike Andromeda, whom spends much time actively avoiding her future husband, or Cissy, who spends most of her time milking her future husband for gifts, Bellatrix has mostly made casual peace with her arranged marriage. Even if he drives her round the bend, and they fight constantly. She doesn't particularly care for Rodolphus in a romantic way, but if it's for the good of the Black family name, and it's what mama and papa expect of her, then Bellatrix will do it without hesitation. Even if it isn't what she really wants to do.
The Black sisters were, and are, the divas of the Slytherin house. Although Andromeda is not nearly as bad as her twin, or their little sister. Cissy and Bella are much more intense in their attitudes toward those 'below' them. They consider themselves like royalty, given their old blood line, and expected to be treated as such by all of their classmates. None of them take kindly to the idea anyone daring to bad-mouth their family, but Bellatrix seems to take these insults just that much more personally than her sisters. She was nearly expelled for a fight in her second year, over just such an argument, and it was after that close call that Bellatrix worked on perfecting her methods. She wouldn't get caught again, and risk disgracing her family name. Unlike Andromeda, Bella didn't really have the proper attitude to be Prefect, though she is quite proud of her twin, and often accompanies her on her patrols regardless.
She always shows the makings of a true Slytherin, and she made a name for herself as such. It has remained constant through her schooling.
Appearance:
The Black family is known for their distinguished and aristocratic beauty, and Bellatrix is no exception to this family trait. She has very, very dark brown hair which appears very nearly black. It usually only appears brown in direct sunlight, or if one is particularly close enough to inspect it. Which is unlikely. Her hair is thick and straight, and long, hanging about her face and framing it neatly, reaching her mid-back in length. Her eyes are also dark brown in color, and very heavy lidded; often appearing somewhat sunken, if she hasn't been getting her proper beauty rest. They have a fierce and intense look in them, and they have quite a way of sizing people up with ease, and chucking them aside into the unworthy bin. Her skin is fair, but not exactly pale, just rather light; it is well cared for, and has a healthy glow to it. She is always sure to take care of it and make sure that it is totally devoid of blemishes.
Even if she might have a few scars from a childhood of practicing dueling with her sisters and cousins. Most of those are covered by her robes.
Her face just a little gaunt in places, and in general is rather severe and sharp; in it's angles, general shape & appearance, as well the expressions that it manages to pull off. She has an air of arrogance about her entire appearance. On an average day, Bellatrix's usual expression is one quite akin to having a dung bomb go off in one's face. Her jawline is well pronounced, and her cheekbones are high and defined. Her cheeks usually have a bit of color to them. Her nose, something she is quite happy with, is neither large nor too small, and straight boned; something she has inherited from her mother and her mother's Rosier blood. She is quite glad to have avoided inheriting her father's large nose. Her lips are full and lush, though her mouth is a bit on the small side. Her eyebrows are kept trimmed and arched, dark in color.
Bellatrix is rather tall for a girl, especially one in her age group; she is even taller than her twin sister. Bella stands at around five feet and ten or eleven inches, literally just a bit short of six feet. And still somehow nearly a head shorter than Rodolphus, much to her dismay. Her figure is thin, with about one hundred and fifteen to one hundred and twenty pounds, distributed nicely over her form. Her chest is a little small, and it isn't quite as adequate as either of her sister's proportions, but she doesn't really mind. Her hips are curvy, and her mother often comments that they are 'the perfect child bearing hips', though Bellatrix doesn't really fancy being told such things.
She is quite aware that she is beautiful, and is more than willing to use it to her advantage, or brag, when it suits her. Though she considers herself to be quite capable of handling most situations without needing to stoop to using her body. After all, she isn't a flirt and never really considers anyone worthy of her body anyway, outside of her strange relationship with Rodolphus.
Bella's wardrobe is far from casual. She usually wears her robes around school, but when she is looking to wear something more relaxing, it doesn't exactly fall into anybody elses idea of relaxed. Except maybe that of another aristocratic teenage girl. She does own some jeans and skirts, but it is a rare sight to see her actually wearing them anywhere outside of the common room, and even when she does, she'll usually have a blouse or proper shirt with them. Mostly Bellatrix prefers formalish robes, nice jewelery, and fancy dresses, things of that nature/ And always in shades of black, green, etcetc. She is always ready for a formal situation, since it was simply how she and her sisters were raised. They were never given a chance to dress down and grub around, and Bella has no intention to start. For the most part, expensive, dark colors, and proper for every situation, about summarizes her type of clothing, and the things she can usually be seen wearing outside of class.
Over all, Bella gives off the typical regal air of the Black family, and wears it with a badge of pride.
