Got the press home and in the shop

My birthday present to myself this year is a hydraulic forging press, something I've wanted for a couple of decades but could never really justify the expense for.

Today, I picked up the press, got it off the truck (about 700 lbs), moved it in the shop, though it still needs to be moved to its final location. Moving the press off the truck was the ( Read more... )

Pink. Definitely pink.

I've moved items in a similar fashion. It's a bit creppy swinging them, I thought I would tear the shed down. But since the shed was built in the 1870's, it held.

Yeah, the beams in the barn and the house are all clear yellow pine, the ones over the door I used didn't even bow under the weight.

Not sure about the pink. Maybe with some purple pinstriping?

Nice! That's kind of a light shade of black though. :-)

Actually, that's what that paint is called, black metal primer. It's more of dark gray, but it's intended to be a protective undercoat, color is almost irrelevant.

Not to mention you're supposed to paint over primer, it's purpose is to act as an interface, not be the primary protective layer.

I suggest International "Don't Land On Me" Orange. Or purple...

So that's one vote for pink, one half each for purple and orange, elsewhere I've heard black, half safety yellow and half safety orange. I considered purple as a pinstripe, so that's another half-vote there.

in the interest of reducing the color palate by eliminating any color without at least one full vote, we get:
pink 1
black 1
purple1
orange1

Very halloweeny, which given my birthday isn't a surprise. Now to play around with design.
