When I started this, I'd actually been wanting to read something about Tim having this back story. There are some stories that have his parents being somewhat abusive, but nothing quite like this. So I kind of took the idea and ran with it. I'm glad you think I nailed the idea so well since it's definitely a pretty heavy topic to cover.
The way you write him and his troubled thoughts is just magic, it evokes this kind of dream world, a sluggish sort of nightmare of confusion, it really gets the reader into the mindset of someone whose entire understanding of a huge part of life has been turned upside down, and it's fantastic.Yes. That's what I was going for. That's a beautiful way to describe it ( ... )

If I'm interested? Yes. Yes I am. That is all. To the Tumblr cave!
I'm so excited to see where this goes for Tim, it's just such a massive aspect of life for someone to have to completely re-learn, it's fascinating.
You're right, a lot of the stories I've read that revolve around or make mention of Tim's backstory have his parents as figures looming large in the background of the story, and while I can't remember any fic that goes into specifics, in most of them Tim's memory of his family ranges from neglectful parents and/or vague hints at an abusive relationship, but none have ever gone into the depth that you have, so I'm absolutely hooked.

It really is a huge aspect of his life and at this point he still can't even understand that his perspective doesn't match everyone else's. Before he can begin to relearn and heal, someone needs to break through to him and help him realize that there are other ways that a person can be loved and cherished.
I agree that's it's a fascinating process. It's one of the reasons why I enjoy writing this verse so much.
Thank you, thank you. I'm happy you think so highly of my work.
