Random Thoughts

I have noticed that when I'm busy with my current research, time flies and I feel like an overall productive individual. Even my thoughts seem more focused and clear, which is definitely a good thing. During my recent time of increased clarity, I have been thinking about Louisiana, particularly New Orleans, and wondering what will become of its ( Read more... )

Hey, interesting questions. Well, I don't think Houston Mayor White would mind a few votes in return for the southern hospitality. What are the voting patterns like in Southern Louisiana? Do you think they'll vote if they stay in Houston?

I don't think Mayor White would mind either. Black folks in Louisiana tend to vote heavily democrat, while white Louisianans tend to vote more Republican recently. The addition of the evacuees, particularly the Black evacuees, will be quite interesting in regard to political and economic outcomes ( ... )

It's sad that this fight continues at the flagship university of the state. I remember when black LSU students fought to change the name of the main restaurant in the student union from "The Plantation Room" to "The Magnolia Room." And from attending a few football games at LSU, the number of purple & gold confederate flags flown during tailgating and at the games was sad. I guess it hasn't changed much in the past 10 years.

Peace and blessings. I haven't heard, well, read from you ad the partner in quite some time. I'm just checking to make sure that all is copasetic. Intelligent socially aware lesbians of color are rare, and I want to make sure that I never lose contact, no matter state lines. :-)
