Many laptops aren't good for gaming. At least that is what the sales guy told me straight up. I recently bought a sony Vaio and I like it fine. Vista took some getting used to, but I think I've got it sorted out.
Never, never, never buy a gateway. Unless you want it to die right away. because that's what I had before the Vaio, and it was crap from the start and crashed every three months, finally resulting in it catching on fire. And that was literally.
Also, make sure you get a warranty or service plan. Best Buy has a good one, and I can basically throw my computer up against the wall (within three years), and they will replace it for me.
depends what you want it for i guess and how much you want it to spend. in the end i gave up and got a mac last time (although i wasn't paying so could hang the expense) as all i use it for is internets and worky stuff... and i got office for free from uni
( ... )
You'll want the Dellonovpaq Superthunderpatrolmeister. It has a 17 foot monitor, jet thrusters to move it about and a smaller laptop that can be launched in the case of emergencies.
