I'm still so depressed about Sirius. I was close to tears when they hugged in the beginning just thinking of what was to come, and it was, just as you said, really unsignificant when he died. People who went with me who hadn't read the books didn't even remember that he'd died, which made me exceedingly sad. I feel like that's the moment that really begins to drive Harry and just...ugh.
As far as the eyes thing goes, I was watching out for it the whole time too and found it really interesting how they were blue in the beginning and green later on. Does that mean all of those Lily-has-a=connection-to-Slytherin theories are true? I don't know.
I know, I'm so terrified that there's gonna be this huge cliffhanger, or that the way everything ties together is going to be predictable. I know there's always some way she surprises even the most hardcore fans, but each book it must get harder to do that and I'm afraid that everything will be too easily guessed. And I have SUCH high expectations. But man, I can't wait.
i agree with this post on so many points, particularly:
+ when Sirius fell behind the veil, it felt so rushed and rather pointless + disappointment in the "Snape's Worst Memory" scene + your comments on Luna, Bellatrix, & Ron + this: Is it wrong when I got excited at Remus and Sirius being next to each other at many intervals throughout the movie? Possibly. x 100
I love love loved the book. I never made a real post about it because it was so goddamn draining. But just, wow. I loved every bit of it, even the parts at the beginning that a lot of people thought were slow and even the big dramatic blockbuster movie fight scene in the Great Hall and even the horribly cheesy epilogue. Because, you know what, Harry has been through some serious shit and he deserves a perfectly happy ending (although I also kind of wish that Harry had ended up living the life he should have had with Sirius: the godfather raising Teddy Lupin as his own. And also I sort of hate Ginny. But still.). The scene when Ron comes back and saves Harry is one of my favorite ever, not just of the series but of all time. And Chapter 34! Oh, I was so convinced Harry was a goner and bawled my eyes out, only to be consoled by the fact that I knew Sirius and Remus were having lots of gay sex in the afterlife.
I should cut this off before it becomes an even longer ramble, but basically, woah, Deathly Hallows, A plus.
