Murder!

I'm doing a radio show composed entirely of murder ballads. If you know of some good murder-themed songs, please comment. I think I have the basics covered, but if you can think of something that may have escaped my notice, let me know.

There's the one by Gorky Zygotic Mynci called "murder ballad" -- I've played that before. Also, you should look at the Pine Box Boys -- particularly the song "I Kept Her Heart"; they're in a genre known as horrorbilly -- bluegrass songs about killing people.

no, they don't, but you can download the song off their website: www.pineboxboys.com.

Also, if you're also including manslaughter, you might want to consider playing "I Hung My Head" by Blue Highway (just a beautiful bluegrass piece). I'll let you know if I think of any others. Too bad we're not webcasting anymore -- I'd love to have been able to listen.

i've heard one version of knoxville girl, but not BR5-49's...
bob dylan apparently has a great version of barbara allen, which is on the gaslight tapes, but it seems pretty inaccessible...i didn't know if you might have heard of it.
