Life is hard, then you die. Need Help Choosing Plot.

Everybody has shit in their lives.  I forget that sometimes.  As I told some people at the Bryant Park meetup the reason I only got up 20k at most in the past 4 nano tries was because I wanted my characters to be happy.  My life has really, really sucked at some points and I just didn't want to inflict suckitude on my characters... So they went

In my opinion the first idea sounds the most interesting compared to the others. Although, if you wanted to, you could have the first part of the story having him trying to set up a utopia and then somewhere down the line he is diagnosed with schizophrenia, which combines your first two ideas. (I hope that made sense x])

It depends on what you are more inspired to write, though.

I'd have to agree that I think some kind of combination of the two ideas would be best. And maybe gives you the most wiggle room in terms of wild plot twists during nanowrimo?

Well, since everyone has shit in their lives and usually the goal of most writers is to make their characters as realistic as possible, then your characters have to have some shit.
I would personally go with your first idea because it sounds like something I would choose to read and I think has the most leeway, but that is my choice.
The second one I think would be the worst because it is the most unrealistic and I don't know how any doctor could declare a person who claims to hear voices sane, or if he was sane, it would be more likely that he would be hailed as a liar than a prophet. (I could just be overestimating the mind of the general population.)
The third one, I think, sounds like something my friend's mom would give to my friend's little sister to remind her to always pray and love God.

Hehe the last one sounds like a great idea for some kind of comedy thing - but I do think it would only really work as a comedy...

Some kind of combination of the first two could work quite well though... like, first of all people think he has schizophrenia, and he goes through a lot of Hell over it, except some people do believe him and in the end it turns out he's sane...?
I dunno, I'm rubbish with plots too!

The last idea could be really funny, but I don't know if it would be a novel-length idea.

As others said, a mixture of the first two ideas would work well. I'm actually writing about a utopia as well, this year!
