It always seems to be the weekend when I post. I don't know why I bother, since almost everybody seems to have lives and don't check their LJ until Monday, but that's how it works out

Drama. That's an apt description. It's political theater of the absolute worst type. Russian Roulette with extra bullets. Posturing with lit fuses. Hot potato with a hand grenade.
I don't know which infuriates/revolts me more; the politicians playing around with something serious in the name of partisan ideologies, or the imbecilic public who can't seem to even grasp what's at stake, or what's being played with.
I have co-workers who should know better (by virtue of having college degrees, and thus, one would think, the ability to think critically,) who not only don't understand the difference between the debt ceiling and the budget deficit, but think that Faux News is the most impartial news program on the air.
Yeah, vacation would be nice. I'm shooting for a full retirement. All I have to do is survive to enjoy it. ;)
It's not all that much easier to watch EU vs. Greece, here...
Sometimes I really wish for it all to go "BOOM". Lose the banks, lose all money, start anew. So at least everyone would easily be able to spot the violent, the thieves and the bullies, and not allow them to throw their fog walls of deception. We might even get there in our life times, who knows.
I have more or less given up on any hope of peaceful retirement. What I can still gamble for is a year or two of relatively comfortable joblessness, at best. Not to be sneered at, this. But of course, if I had a chance....
Retirement used to be such a fascinating concept :-). You might even be able to get there.

You both work way too hard anyway. Wish I could come up with any livable alternatives myself, but it seems there just aren't any.
We're following "your" drama in congress and I have been thinking about you guys. Maybe some longish vacation might come your way soon...?
