The needles in the back thing...I was told, when they did that to me (although to a much lesser degree, of course) that you have to be awake because despite the local, if a needle goes awry you will feel an intense pain & they need to know that because it means it's hitting something that will cause long term, severe headaches. Don't need that!
Can I ask, since you have mentioned the "we're still poly" thing, how is his relationship w his girlfriend? Curious for a number of reasons relating to what you've said about love/your relationship & the illness in general. If it's too personal I apologize.

As far as his girlfriend goes, they are still togther, but things have definitely gone to more of a "friend support" thing. I mean, they're still seeing each other in a romantic capacity, but things had to be prioritized. Her place right now is as support for Luke and I, if that makes sense.
Don't worry about the benefit, there were a ton of people there. And I know you support us.
