PC gaming has pretty much gone downhill, yeah. I don't know if you've heard of some of the other ridiculous DRM enforcement methods, but there are a few that are straight out plain old rootkits, or worse. At least one of these methods installs without permission, can seriously fuck up your system if you leave it on, is almost impossible to remove, and can seriously fuck up your system if you remove it
