So, hiya. I've been... absent. You might've noticed. Or maybe not. Who knows! Maybe you don't even remember me. In which case, it's nice to meet you--I'm Christy

I dislike the whole lack of being able to say what you want, or ANYTHING, to others, and I don't know how you really connect with it. I like reading the confessions blogs and such, and it's a quick fun scroll each time I check it, but it's no lj.
I always hear good things about Portland, Oregon and that I'd like it there. Portland, ME is pretty cool too..lived there 5 months last winter.
I also recently started watching and am liking Orphan Black and Orange is the New Black....hey, they both end with the word black! lol
and in a lot of ways it's still a wonderful town--but it's not the place that I grew up in, and that makes me really sad. It shouldn't--I shouldn't expect the world to stand still. But there's just this feeling like I don't know this city anymore, and I never even left.
I totally feel this way about Nashville. I think it's natural when your city starts growing really fast. It's disconcerting, though, isn't it?
I've never been to Portland either, but it seems cool. At any rate, I hope you find a place to live that you really like. And I'm so glad you're still gainfully employed!
ORPHAN BLACK FOR ALL THE AWARDS! Is there anyone who doesn't love it?
I want to like tumblr so bad. SO BAD. Because that's where it seems that most of my flist peeps are these days. But I just don't like it. I feel like I'm shouting into a void.
ME TOO! It's frustrating because so much of fandom has moved there that I want to make it my fandom base too, but I just cannot understand what the big deal is when all you're doing is reblogging other people's gifs and fanart.
The appeal of LJ for me was never so much my own LJ and what I had to say, it was more the really active LJ's that had great discussion going on in them, and that just doesn't transfer to tumblr. It used to be so much fun discussing Buffy with a ton of other fans at gabrielleabelle's LJ for example, and I just don't know how you could come even close to replicating something like that on tumblr. People might reblog an essay or meta and add their own notes to it, but there's just not the same community feel, you never know if anyone is even listening when you do reblog something
I APPROVE OF THESE TV CHOICES. Orphan Black and OITNB are THE BEST. Also, definitely get back to FNL - the 4th and 5th seasons are a big shift, and I think I like them better than 2 and 3? Nothing could possibly be as soapy as Landry the murderer, though, lol.
