I confess that I still don't like Diana's wedding dress. I thought that Sarah Ferguson's was miles better.
I've seen the news reports about the Queen's wedding exhibition. I thought she looked lovely on her wedding day. So did Princess Anne and Camilla. Diana not so much though.
I remember being forced to stay in and watch the sodding thing with my grandmother. Let's just say I was deeply unimpressed about being confined indoors with my siblings & cousins when our parents escaped for the day.
I never did by into the hype surrounding Di, even when I was 6. ;) (That cynicism remained firmly in place until August 1997. )
The wall to wall media coverage in the lead up to the marriage turned me cold. I liked the pomp & ceremony as much as anyone, but I found my Sindy more interesting... and she had a better wedding dress! ;)
I did buy into the hype though. I was fascinated by everything surrounding the Royal Wedding, from the people to the pomp. I remembering reading and watching loads about it. It just completely captured my imagination.
How come you lost the cynicism when she died? Was it simply because she was dead and it didn't matter any more?
