( I feel compelled to say something about the coffee situation, because the coffee situation matters a great deal to me. )

That emergency radio I sent you a link on not only is hand crank but charges cell phones. Charcoal - yeah, we have a useless electric glass top range (hate it, hat it, hat it, but we also got a charcoal and a gas grill used from a friend when he got a fancy combo one. Worst case on those is you can even cook on a wood fire in the charcoal one, and we have plenty of wood.

And yay coffee! We have a camp coffee pot and a hand bean grinder.

I think a hand bean grinder would probably be an excellent idea for us. And grilling was most folks' backup plan, but it's labor-intensive. My gas range was much faster, not least because all it took to light was a match.

I didn't mention it because it wasn't an issue for us, but propane was also in very short supply. People would prepay and then get in line, to buy propane.
