Meaning: Jealousy
She had never considered herself to be the jealous type. Yet here she was, quietly seething inside as Maria left the house with two of her friends from work. She closed her eyes as she slipped down onto the sofa, bringing her knees up under her, and hugging a cushion to her chest. She felt ridiculous. She still wasn’t sure which part she was more envious of- the people spending time with Maria, or Maria being able to manage having a social and love life at the same time when she couldn’t...but either way she felt irrevocably jealous.
The latter of the options clawed at her heart, and she desperately tried to suppress it. She should be happy that Maria was able to keep a balance in her life. She should be glad that the woman she loved could have some normality here and there.
So why wasn’t she?
