Anyone else now shipping Shannon/Sawyer? 'Cause I am. Sticks. Ha! I love how Sawyer gives everyone a nickname. Kate = Freckles. Hurley = Porky Pie, was it? I like how Sawyer dealt with Shannon. Like he understood the need to be a bitch and grate on people's nerves 90% of the time. And he was reading Watership Down! Awww. I wonder if he was so bored and just picked up whatever he could find to entertain himself, or if it's his own copy, and if he would read a book in a normal situation. I love these subtle little characterization nuggets tossed here and there. I don't think Sawyer even intended on demanding any sort of price for the bug spray, but since Shannon pushed it by acting all accusatory he decided to fuck with her.
"The rat will always lead you back to his hole." That's quite the little pearl of wisdom there, Sayid. Anyone else notice how close he was leaning in next to Kate?
That scene when Jack rescued Boone just felt like it was a total shout-out to the slasher fans. I enjoy those Jack/Boone moments, but I was kind of relieved when Boone had a chance to look less-than-worshipful of Jack for a change. I was getting pretty embarassed for the guy.
I so totally didn't expect Boone to be the one who stole the water supply. And I loved that little chastising talk Sawyer had with him at the end. Awww, Sawyer needs love, too. Despite the previews for this episode, I was not fooled into thinking Sawyer was trying to rape Kate. Those studio execs, or whoever's in charge of those things just love to deceive. Those previews more often than not outright lie.
I don't understand how any fans of Lost could not love Jack, but after this woobiefest I really won't understand if people don't feel the love for Jack. I mean, come on. The guy has serious issues. Like an inferiority-complex that both his parents instilled in him. I wanna know what he "did", that makes him feel so obliged to follow his mother's orders. I especially liked the parts where he said he wasn't a leader, which is interesting because everyone was so desperate for him to be one. And when he was quoting his father's words to Locke, about him not being cut out for it. Man, his parents really did a number on him. I thought the kiddy!Jack sequence was brilliant. The scene had a very nightmarish quality to it, with the sounds of the kid against the fence, and Jack's choice just felt so inevitable. It was a real surprise to get a younger flashback of him.
I kinda like Locke. In way he's the most off-his-rocker out of all the survivors, and in another he's the sanest, because he has proof of miracles and that good can be found on the island. Loved that line about looking into the eye of the island and what he saw there was beautiful.
Did anybody else notice that the Charlie/Claire moment--which I loved--sounded very similar to a certain fic on ficinabottle? There was even that timebomb line which reminded me of the "exploding baby everywhere" part of the story.
Wasn't at all surprised when the coffin turned out to be empty. Dolls are creepy. ::shudder::
