So. I just watched the second viewing of this FMA. And I almost entertained going to bed, thinking there was a possibility I wouldn't be missing *that* much. Well, I was certainly wrong ( Read more... )

Yeah, Joss sure cornered the market on being cruel to his fans.

know that we have no problem with you pissing off your audience.

You gotta respect that, however grudgingly.

I have watched episode 8. Seeing Ed flailing around on the floor with an empty arm socket was certainly a *disturbing* picture. I knew right away that the serial killer was a man in drag. I credit Peacemaker for my being highly attuned to male characters posing as women. Even though I really like Roy Mustang, I couldn't help but be angry on Ed's half when he told Ed to get over it. Nina had become family to Ed, so I mean, come on. I can't wait for Roy and Ed to get to really know each other. That should be really fun to watch. Probably in a brutal way, though.

Don't worry, everyone cries for FMA eventually. I didn't cry for this episode either (I was too shocked and disgusted and WTF?ed), but I cried more than once down the line.

Heh. I look forward to the breakdown. And I will always come back. How could I not?

See, the reason why Roy's harsh get-over-it speech didn't totally turn me off on Roy's character is that I assumed that he was only trying to prepare Ed for what's bound to be the worse-to-come. I assumed that Roy's already experienced enough horrific things to feel justified in taking that approach. As character development, it's something I find believable and can nod my head at. But if I'd been in Ed's place I'd want Roy's head on a stick for dismissing a family member of mine like that. But I think Roy does keep in mind that he's dealing with a 12 year old and is trying to make him grow up faster because being 12 with a life like Ed's is not going to do him any favors. You make me curious about the comparison between the dub and the original.

Yeah. Ed and Al spent months at that house. That's what really hurts. Ouch ( ... )
