Can it be true? Is Renee actually back?...

Yes!!! Oh the things I've seen and stories I could tell...but that would take WAY too long. I think I'll just update on the things currently affecting me. First and foremost I miss you guys...a lot. I, selfishly, haven't delved into my friends journals yet so I'm writing this without a months worth of your life information, but I hope everyone ( Read more... )

I am not surprised in the least that you love Ranma 1/2. You and Lacie have similar "energies".

I am assuming from the fact that I have not received any tech support calls from you that Denny vetoed the installation of Xubuntu? A possible selling point would be that additionally installing the Wine Windows emulator would enable you to run Windows programs, including World of Warcraft.

Denny got upset because the first time he started up the computer, it automatically ran from the hard drive which had Xubuntu in it. He then proceeded to type from a Windows program for 2 hours only to find out that none of it could be saved because he wasn't running it from Windows. He was really upset. So I just took the disk out of the computer. I figure I'll use it when I use the computer because I don't have as much patience for slow computers as he does. Sorry things didn't turn out the way you wanted. Denny's hard to sell on anything new. He's like one of those old people who still use rotary dial phones. "If it gets the job done why replace it?" His stubbornness is annoying though. Oh well.

Do not apologize to me; Xubuntu would be for you, not me. (I already have Ubuntu on my system at home.) I just want my friend to be able to use a functional operating system on her computer, for free (and legally so), instead of having to deal with an old corrupted version of Windoze that would be potentially expensive to update without an illegally pirated copy. The fact that you can run Xubuntu from the Live CD enables you to run it without installing it (as you are already aware), so Denny can still have his corrupted Windoze ( ... )

Also, the Xubuntu Live CD gives you the option of booting Xubuntu from the CD or Windows from the hard disk, so you do not have to remove the Xubuntu CD in order to run Windows. To boot Windows you would select "Boot from first hard disk". It is a timed menu though, and will default to Xubuntu after 30 seconds.
