More mushrooms!
These were from last Saturday in northern Minnesota. I don’t have time right now to try identifying them, but the other night I did look up the most unusual one I’d seen. Using a beautiful book sent to me by Nightdog, I was able to identify these little jewels as Blood-red Redcaps. Ominous as they look - even the stem is red! - they are inedible, ( Read more... ) -
Travels
Driving in northern Minnesota, I was reminded why I like traveling with my family: my brother (at the wheel) turned around and drove back to this place so he and I and our mom could explore it. We think it was a hunting or fishing lodge years ago. A lot of years, judging by the age of the defunct appliances.

Nightdog has been hospitalized
Her husband, R, contacted me via my art website this morning.
She is really not well, due to complications from her chemo. Prayers, good thoughts, whatever you have, will be welcome. He is not sure at this point if she will pull through.
I love her a lot and I know many other people do too. -
Wednesday evening with MASSIVE CATERPILLAR
Went walking agin; another perfect evening for it. And found THIS, which as it turns out is a LUNA MOTH CATERPILLAR HOLY CRAP THEY ARE MASSIVE.

Walking this evening was therapeutic. I took the photo below as we were on the path along the shore of the nearest lake. Mom is still here, which is really good. Big News:

You’ll be SHOCKED to learn I’m abnormal, I’m sure
I’ve always known I was a weirdo and I’ve always been fine with it. It has its advantages.
Right now, it means I got Weirdo Cancer with a mutation for which there’s a recent, but firmly established, targeted drug. This will be my first and thus far only treatment, and they’ve gone with that instead of the immunotherapy, to begin with, because the ( Read more... )
