Summary: Ever since the Tachibana siblings came to Fudomine, Akari's older brother, Kamio Akira, has been using all of his attention on An and had been neglecting her.
"Nii-chan!" Akari shouted as she ran around the front of the zoo. She pouted, her older brother promised to take her to the zoo today to make up not being able to hang out with her because of tennis practice.
Akari took out her cell phone and dialed the number. "Nii-chan!"
"Hush, Akari! I'm out with An right now. Call back in three hours." he said as he hang up the phone.
Akari frowned. Ever since the Tachibana siblings came to their school, her brother has been too busy to spend time with her. Whether it was practicing for a match or hanging out with An, he never has time for her anymore.
She sat on a bench and hugged her knees close to herself. Her brother had promised to always be there for her especially with their parents always working, but now, Akari is alone with no one to really to depend on anymore.
Akari stood up and ran home. She knew there was only one way to get out of a mess like this.
With all of her stuff packed, she took out a piece of paper and only wrote one thing on it: It's all nii-chan's fault. She took out a box and opened it, showing a bunch of money; unlike her brother who uses his money on An and music, she saves every yen she has in case of an emergency. Stuffing the money into her purse, she took her bag and left home, planning on never returning.
It's been probably a month since she left home and went to Okinawa. She herself had gone through quite a change to make sure that she wouldn't be recognized by the police or anybody else. She no longer has her red locks, instead they are blonde now and purple contacts is covering her normal eye color. Her first day in Okinawa, she had meet Hirakoba Rin, whom had helped her out by letting her stay at his house.
"Oi! Akari! Hurry up! We'll be late for morning practice!" shouted Hirakoba as he put on his shoes.
"Coming, Rin-nii! But, it's not like Ei-nii will do anything to me." she said as she straighten out her skirt. "Plus, I'm not on the team and I told you not to call me 'Akari'! It's Ayaka."
Rin rolled his eyes. "I'll call you Ayaka when we're in front of people besides the team. Now let's go before Fatso said that I owe him burgers at Sasebo Burger." he said as he pulled her out of the house and ran to school.
"Right... you lost a lot of money, didn't you?" she inquired.
"Uun1. That's why you're paying next time."
"WHAT!?"
"You're late." said Kite as he scowled the two.
"Wait, why am I getting scowled? I'm not part of the team." said Akari as she went to a bench and sat down.
"It doesn't matter if you are or not! Because you two were late, Eishirou had been keeping me away from my snacks." complained Tanishi as he rubbed his empty stomach.
"You know what they say, Kei-nii... kamuru ussaa mii nayun2." she said, but Hirakoba added to it.
"Well, in this case, you'll only be gaining pounds." Some snickered, but Kite didn't look amused.
"Akari, Hirakoba-kun, go run twenty laps on the beach." he said.
"Wait! Why do I have to run!? Plus I'm in a skirt!" she shouted as she stood up on the bench to be taller than Kite.
"We can't have foolishness now when we're leaving for the Nationals tomorrow. Now, run and Hirakoba-kun, make sure her skirt doesn't go up."
"Ne, nii-tachi, we're playing Seigaku today, right?" said Akari as she walked with them to the courts.
"Uun1, they won the Kantou tournament and beat Rikkai." answered Kai.
"Seigaku beat Fudomine...." she whispered.
"Huh? Said something?" ask Hirakoba as he poked her cheek.
"Nope." she said.
"Nya! We lost!" pouted Akari. "Well, you did try your best and that's all that matters, nii-tachi."
"Our best doesn't seem good enough though." said Chinen.
"Ne, I'm going to buy you all drinks and no food, Kei-nii!" she said as she walked to the booth and stood in line.
"What would you like, miss?" asked the vender.
"You don't have any power drinks, do you?" she asked as she looked around.
"Sorry, sold out for the day. Sorry."
She sighed. "Shiwaa neebi ran3."
"Excuse me?"
"Uchinaa-guchi wakai miseemi4?"
"Ah, an Okinawa student. I haven't been there in a while."
She smirked. "Kuku nuchi5 bottles of water unige sabida6."
Akari was just about to reach for the bottles when she froze after someone called out her name. "Akari-chan?"
'An... damnit!' she thought then got really to run. "You got the wrong person." she muttered then ran, forgetting about the water.
"Wait, Akari!"
'Shit... I need somewhere to hide!' she thought then ran back to the group, stealing Kai's hat and Hirakoba's jacket while hiding behind Tanishi.
"Akari... what are you doing?" questioned the group.
"Call me Ayaka, please!"
"An, this isn't funny! There's no way that Akari would be here." said a familiar voice.
"I'm tell you, Kamio-kun! She's here and she had blonde hair and everything!" she said as she continued to push him. She looked around then approached the Higa group. "Excuse, but did you see a little girl that ran in this direction?"
"Lie! Please lie!" she whispered.
"Why would be tell you?" asked Kite.
"Look, we're looking for his sister and I know I saw her run this way and I know it's her because I recognized her voice. Now tell if she went this way." said An with her hands on her hips.
"An, stop it. I think you're mishearing stuff. I doubt that I would ever see Akari ever again." he said, a hint of sadness in his voice.
'Nii-chan... it's still your fault for everything!' she thought.
"What happened to this Akari?" question Tanishi. "Agaa7! What the hell was that for Akari!?" he yelled after she kicked him and stepped away revealing herself.
"Akari!?" said Kamio.
"Don't know what you're talking about." she said as she pulled down the hat and slowly backed away before breaking into a sprit.
"Akari! Wait!" shouted Kamio as he ran after her.
Though she knew that her brother was faster than her, but since she had stayed with Higa, she had become faster due to Kite's harsh training and also tempting her with her favorite food.
She ran as fast she could, but before she was home free, she ending up tripping and spraining her ankle. "Crap...."
"Akari! Are you okay!?" asked Kamio as he rushed to her side.
"Don't touch me!" she shouted. "I don't ever want to see you again, Kamio Akira!"
"A-Akari...."
"Okay, stop it." said Kite as he picked Akari up. "We're taking you to sick bay first."
There was a gently knock on the door and Kamio stepped in the room, only to be greeted with a stool to his face. "I TOLD YOU TO LEAVE ME ALONE!"
"Kamio-kun... it's not safe to go into the room." said Tachibana as he dragged Kamio out on his back.
"You're sister is pretty pissed out and we'd known about this the whole time since her note said that it was all your fault. So, you should really go talk to her and make amends, but she wouldn't even let you in the room or for you to even go near her which is a problem and which really won't allow you to do anything the make amends."
"I get it, Ibu!" shouted Kamio as he rubbed his nose.
"Akari, spill. What's going on?" asked Kai as the group sat around her bed.
"It's nothing." she answered.
"Not true. It's something." replied Hirakoba.
"I said it's nothing!"
"Well... we know that you haven't had caramel in such a long time, especially after Kite banned you from eating it. So... will you tell us for a caramel stick?" Hirakoba asked as a caramel stick magically appeared in his hand.
Akari slightly twitched. "No deal."
"Ah? How about five?"
'They multiply!' she thought then shook her head. "No deal."
"Ten?"
"No deal."
"I see... what about fifty?" he said as the team suddenly got ten sticks each.
Akari twitched. "N-no deal."
"Not even fifty?" Hirakoba sighed. "How about... five bags of a hundred sticks?" he asked while everyone was holding up bags.
"... I give." she said then snatched away all the bags. "Here's the truth... IranawayfromhomebecausemybrotherwaspayingmoreattentiontohisgirlfriendandbeenneglectingmeevenwhenhepromisedtoalwaysbewithmesinceourparentsarealwaysworkingandsuchandafterthatIranheretoescapeeverythingandstartanewlifethatIloveanddon'twanttogiveup!" She said it all in one breathe and then stuck three sticks in her month.
"Huh?"
"I got it." said Chinen.
"Amazing...." commented Hirakoba.
"So... are you going to make amends with him?" asked Kai.
"Why would I?" she retorted.
"Just try, for us." mused Kite as they walked out and threw Kamio inside like throwing him to the shark, but worst.
"Kamio...."
"Since when were you like this?"
"Remember when you broke my favorite doll?"
"Ahhhh... I remember that perfectly." he thought and shuttered. It wasn't one of his fondest memories.
"Multiply that by a million. I'm pissed because of you Kamio!"
"What did I do!?" he asked.
"You broke your promise!" she said as she threw a hundred dirty sticks at him.
"What promise!? Is it because I forgot to take you to the zoo!? You ran away because of that!?" he asked as he tried to dodge it, but completely failed.
"Teme... get out! Just get out and leave me alone!" she yelled and reached for the scalpel, but he ran out of the room before she could throw it. "Baka... baka nii-chan!" she shouted as she started to cry.
Kite walked in, rubbing his temples. "Really? Can't you settle this without throwing sharp objects?" he asked.
"Nope." she said as she started on her second bag. Kite sighed then went and restraint her by holding her hands. "What are you doing!?"
"Trying to stop you from throwing things."
"...I'll throw you."
"Don't even try. Kamio! Come back in!"
Kamio slowly walked in, cautious about any in-coming objects. "Look, Akari. I'm sorry that I forgot to take you to the zoo."
"Teme... you don't understand anything!"
"Didn't you once tell me that you always promised to be with your sister since she really have no one besides you since your parents aren't ever home and-" Ibu was going to continue until Sakurai stuff an apple in his mouth. "Hush."
Kamio looked at her, wide eye. "That promise...."
"Of course, you uumaku8! If you weren't always making love faces to An, then you would have know how lonely I was! And can't you even tell that An likes that kid from Seigaku more than you and you still can't take a hint!"
"Akari... I'm sorry." he said as he bowed on his knees.
"I won't accept."
"Please, accept his apologies and mine also." said An as she stepped into the room and bowed.
"Why should I?"
"Do you know how worried Kamio-kun was when you left and when no one could find you, he was very depressed because you blamed him for leaving and I don't really blame you, breaking a promise like that, but Kamio-kun really does care about you!"
"Fine... but under one condition."
"What?"
"If you can get me three hundred bags of caramel and get my parents to continue letting me go to Higa, then I'll accept."
Fin.
