In China, most people share ten last names. So imagine if you have to look for a suspect with the last name "Wang" (technically that's the Mandarin pronunciation of "Wong"). Well good luck, because that's the most common last name in China. :D ( Read more... )

@.@ That sounds confusing.

I like the "stripping off pants" bit, though. =D

Or one can be "Lai", and the other can be "Liu". So when put together, it's "Lai Liu", which in Cantonese it is "pissing in pants". XDDD

If that's what the two are combined, I'm now curious what my surname means by itself. ;p

I think that most parents would use more tact than that. Most parents don't want their children to be teased all of their life. Otherwise, there would be more people named John Smith and Snow White.

...and I want to see what this is like a few generations from now. When people thusly have.... 7 last names. =P

Yeah, thus a reason for the ability to choose, rather than having it mandatory... (thank god)... XD

Oh, and I just thought of something... it can be a way of screwing over future generations of children by giving them a crappy last name! XDDDD

But then again, they have the opportunity to have one (First and/or last? Can't remember) name change in their lifetime, so I guess that's the saving grace. ^^;;
