Drywall home repair question

Does anyone know if you're supposed to get permits to replace sheetrock in your own home, by yourself (non-contracted) in the City of Dallas?

Normally, purely cosmetic things do not require a permit.

I'm hoping so. I really don't want a code inspector knocking on my door at some really unexpected and inopportune time, wanting to see what's going on inside.

301.2 of the dallas code does say this doesn't require a permit

20. Interior remodeling of nonload bearing components of single-family or two-family dwellings that does not add floor area or change exterior doors or windows.

But... it's the Code guys, so they COULD come back and say, "what you're doing isn't remodling because it exposes wires.." or something goofy like that.
