aren't so much what they claim, and you might not know where your "organic" foods are coming from, unless you're asking outright:

Community Supported Agriculture is a good approach, local & feeds $$ back into your community. Here's a lookup on Texas, but you can also do by zip:

Their search also offers options to look for Farmer's Markets and such.

thanks for this info.

we mostly shop from heb and i know some of their produce is from local farms.

since i started working again, me and d are wanting to eat better and are willing to start paying a little more for good food. i mean it's worth it. it's like preventative care. i'll already be paying out the wazoo for health insurance. we're going to look into foods for good skin health and allergies.

my daughter already likes to eat tofu, sushi (crab meat), broccoli, seaweed soup, so we've got some good habits to work with.

i try not to buy produce from mexico. i hear they irrigate with water that may have sewage.

Do you have farmer's markets nearby? That's another way to get local organic produce.

there's one in weslaco about 20 minutes drive but last time i was there i got bite up by fleas.
i don't think they are organic either.

there's another one a little closer we're going to look into:
