So, I know I am lucky. I've had my locks for about a year, and have really not experienced much in the way of unhappiness from other people about them. I know they're not my boyfriend's favorite but he has gone out of his way to get used to them, including pointing out people who have dreads on TV and in Movies

it has a lot to do with society.
anything different than the kardashian style of hair is weird. and to many people unattractive.
i deal with it too. i'm sorry you got a shitty customer, but i'm proud of you for keeping your composure.

Fuck 'em. You said yourself you've gotten other people interested in dreading their hair out after seeing your hair/talking to them. Concentrate more on the positive interactions instead of the few negative ones.
