Is it binding early decision?
If so:
From what I've heard is that most places let more people in early. Maybe that's why he wants you to change it to Early decision so he knows that if they let you in they would know that you'd be attending their school.

I'd say switch to Early Decision. It indicates more interest. Especially, because it sounds like this is where you want to go.
