I Was There!

So I voted for Hillary in the primary, but I am first and foremost a Democrat (well, in MN it's actually the Democrat-Farmer-Labor party) and I always planned to support whoever we decided to run, so I am completely pleased to have been at the rally when Obama won the nomination. I went with marainsanity and we waited for 3 hours in a line that went literally ( Read more... )

I liked that Hilary was pushing for mandatory universal health care, which is why I chose her in the primaries, but pretty much anyone the Democrats chose at this point would be such a relief compared to the last eight years. I'm actually not as worried as I used to be about the baggage of either race or gender in this election. Our primary season rocked, in my estimation, because we got out the vote like crazy, and if people are willing to go through the hassle of voting in *primaries* then I feel pretty good about the general. But only time will tell.

It's so cool that you were there. I'm feeling rather better about things after reading Sen. Clinton's concession speech. I hope that it indicates that the two senators and their people have been talking and that Sen. Obama will perhaps be making her his running mate? Hm.

They're both true politicians, and not terribly progressive (women should talk their reproductive choice over with their ministers? GAK.), imo, but they're not evil. I'd like a president and VP who aren't evil.

Yes! Not evil is the first and most important criterion! And it's so true than neither of them are exactly *radical*, but if I was waiting for a radical I'd never vote. I'm pretty much a socialist (I think certain industries like health care should be owned by the democratically elected government) and find it constantly hilarious when the Right accuse Clinton or Obama or whoever on the Left of promoting a socialist agenda. I'm always like, "You think *that's* socialism? I'll show you a *real* socialist policy!"
