Name/Nickname: Rachel
Age: 18
Likes: I love reading and learning just for fun. I enjoy spending time with people I care about, especially in the evenings if we get a big group together. I like horse back riding, listening to music, sleeping, and traveling.
Dislikes: I hate chores, homework and rude people. Also, people who pretend to know everything, but obviously don't, or people who always have something to say regardless that they have nothing to do with the conversation irk me. I dislike it when others' beliefs are thrust upon me, and also when the differences of others are completely disregarded, overlooked, or simply misunderstood. I hate that people would change their bodies through surgery just to appear more "beautiful" - be happy with what you have. Rapists.
Strong points: I love cultures, and therefore, I at least try if not succeed, in accepting the diversity in people and cultures. I'm intelligent because learning is enjoyable to me, and I put my closest friends before all others.
Weaker points: Procrastination, laziness, the lack of focus on work for long periods of time, change my mind a lot.
What is something you'd change about yourself?: I'd increase my determination and focus in terms of what's need (work, school) rather than what I want to do.
What is something that annoys you most about other people? How people judge you before getting to know you and your history, their reverence of modern beauty, and the absoluteness of many of their beliefs and ideology. I used to be a very absolute person - everything was black or white, but now after many trials and debates with my closest friends I see that very few things are viewed as right or wrong. For example, capital punishment. I live in Texas where it's very legal. I have a passionate hate for rapists - it's not something that can be excused as self-defense like murder can, so I used to think that all rapists should be killed - once a rapist, always a rapist - that sort of thing. But then I was presented with the idea that what if it was one of my own brothers or something. Would I want them dead? No. I'd be disillusioned, disgusted, and afraid, but I would not want one of my family dead, despite the possibiliy of them commiting such a heinous crime. It just made me think, is all.
What is something you'd change about the world? I'd make people more understanding, cooperative, conscientious, and less greedy, myself included. Most of the world's problems could be lessened if these things were to occur. Poverty would decrease, as would famine and sickness, because rather than buying 20 million dollars we'd buy a 10 million dollar home and give the difference to charities. War would decrease as well, such as the massacres between the Shiites and the Sunnis, who murder each other over differing religious beliefs. Now, admittedly, I'm incredibly Republican in regards to how an indiviudal earns and spends his money, whether he's a cashier at MacDonald's or another Bill Gates, but I do think that everyone needs to be a bit more aware of the problems throughout the world.
