In my childhood one of my favorite books was Owls in the Family, which is a true story about the author and his two pet owls he cared for during his youth. The book is light-hearted, comical and touching. At the end of the story the author has to move into the city, and so he relunctantly leaves the owls with a friend in the country,

I guess it's just a low-point to see how life turns out sometimes; I can see why the author chose the end the book as he did. I was perfectly happy in assuming the owls lived long lives at his friend's estate and that the author went back to visit them often. I'm probably more upset I won't be able to look at the book the same way whenever I reread it.
Not to use the owls as a metaphor for how I've been feeling lately but .. :\ thanks mister.
