Don't throw away the monitor... All you need is a soldering iron and a $2 connector/hood to make the monitor work perfectly again. That is, if it's the connector that is broken (if color shifts happen when you wiggle the connector, that's what it is). If you can't fix it, I bet Ralesk could. The monitor I have on my office PC was salvage and I fixed the connector! And I may be selling it soon, too.
Thanks for the advice, but it randomly shifts color hun. I start it up, it's heavily yellow-orientated.Fun, reboot. GREEN! It's like Berty Bott's every flavor bean, you "never know what you'll get next time!" lol. Anyways, nah. Ralesk is busy as hell and he hates my guts anyway :-P.
The monitor itself is old as well. It's a 1024X800 max resolution 85 refresh rate per sec monitor. Disturbingly below-average quality hun. That, and it's HUGE.It tkaes up 33% of the space on the desk I'm on, leaving almost no room for the KB. I'm aiming for a 1024X800 120 something refresh rate flat monitor. Healthy for my blind-going eyes and a lot more fun to look at than this behemoth.
But as said before, I appreciate your concern right now ~_~. *hugs supertight*

Thats a rather weird combo. How big is the monitor? If its a 17 inch it should be able to do 1280*1024 as its max res, with a very low refresh rate, but that would be its max res. If its only 14/15 inch then 1024*768 would be its amx res, but i'd doubt it would be capable of 85Hz at it.

YOur best of avoiding LCDs unless you have ALOT of money to spend. Although LCDs look 'cool' and are small, they basicly suck unless you buy a super expensive one. A cheap LCD with have a high pixel pitch and a high responce time, both of which make them look like ass.
CRTs are big, but they still offer by far the best image quality right now for the price, even more so on large sizes. Unless you have zero room and cant fit a CRT in at all, your seriously better off with a CRT.
Well if my job comes in, I won't have to worry about cash...and I do mean the model agency one, hehe...
I donno how big it is in inches, the Imperial system makes me angry lol. It's just fucking huge on my desk and it MIGHT be able to do more than 1024X800 if I remember well, but I value my eyes too much to try, lol.
I definitely saw the word "paycheck" in there. (deep breath before yelling) THREE CHEERS FOR BLACKIE GETTING A JOB!!! HIP-HIP-HOORAY!! HIP-HIP-HOORAY!! HIP-HIP-HOORAY!!!!
despite all the bad things, you keep looking forward at fixing them instead of just dwelling on the bad things with no hope of changing them. That's a good thing, as it shows pro-actuve thinking, and that's sure to get you where you want to be!
Hope you feel better, and good luck getting some of the stuff that's got you bugged worked out!
