I can hear...?!

So it's amazing to me what happens with our senses when they're being deprived of for so long.

When I was a kid, I had ear infections in both ears. Swimmer's Ear. Happened both at pretty much the same time. My parents were horrified. I came downstairs crying with both ears bright red. And ever since then, I've had wax problems.

Back in college, every 5 months or so I'd have to go down to the health clinic and have my ears irrigated out. This is because wax would just build up in my ears to the point that they get stopped up and I feel like I need a hearing aid. After a few times of doing this out of college when I had to pay for the visits, I learned how to do it myself with the home kits. But it took twenty times as long, so I didn't do it that much.

Recently it's seemed like it got a lot better. My ears haven't really stopped up much so I haven't worried too much about it. Lynnie and I started going swimming again now that it's 100 bajillion degrees out and suddenly both my ears stopped up. I guess there was a buildup but since there was a hole or something I could still hear and function normally.

Last night I spent about an hour irrigating my ears out. I probably pumped half of Lake Lanier into my ears. But now my ears are clear for the first time in probably over a year. I'm actually hearing things I typically don't hear (like fans) - everything's just that much crisper. It's just a weird feeling, like there's all this stuff I've been missing. And I honestly didn't realize my keyboard was THIS LOUD.

Anyway, here's a recent picture of me. These don't happen often, so mark it down on your calendar! (You can click it to make it bigger)
