Catch-up post: What's going on in Bladeworld

Apr 11, 2008 00:04

A couple of weeks ago, I decided to volunteer for the local campaign for Barack Obama. We can discuss why later, if anyone wants, but right now, just stating the fact. So Bladekid and I went downtown to the recently opened local campaign headquarters, where they were really just trying to get organized, and put my name on a list to volunteer. ( Read more... )

That's really cool! I think it's great that you're getting involved, and getting Bladekid involved too. Obama's the only national-level candidate that I've really felt good about in a long time.

Same here. I particularly like his view on the racial divides in this country - informed as it is by an inside track on multiple perspectives - and his refusal to take money from special interests. If elected, Obama takes the White House without owing special interests anything. That means he's free to act on the positions he sold his voters on in the first place.

That gives me a sense of hope and confidence I've never had in any president.

very, very cool, but especially for Bladekid. I changed my voter registration yesterday so I could vote in the primary here.

Good for you! I expect voters will turn out in record numbers here. We also have satellite polling places that allow us to vote early, from now until two days before actual election day. One of our goals in canvassing is going to be to encourage people to take advantage of this to help avoid the long lines and chaos of election day.

I am so excited to hear you talking like this. I think it's amazing that you and Bladekind are so involved in this.

OK, so I am siiting on the opposite side of the Atlantic, but we too have been waiting 8 years far too long for the end of Bush's administration.

With each generation becoming increasing apathetic toward politics (and that includes myself) I am heartened and encouraged by what you've written here. You keep going there, and of course you will tell us all about Barack's Town Hall. It's one of the most exciting things you'll ever do.

Yeah, I'm watching West Wing at the moment, which tends to make me a little emotional, but knowing that you're out there helping with this stuff for real...it's so special.

I watched the live feed of his talk at work - 4:45PST and saw the efforts there to get people seated, and all the buzz going on. The camera would pan, pretty much in the same spaces and despite all my efforts, I couldn't make you or the Bladekid out. I figured the odds of a clear camera hold on you would be pretty remote, given the wide angle shots used ( ... )
