Having memory loss, wish you were here

SGA peeps, please help. In season four, is John a full colonel, or is he still a lieutenant colonel? I can't remember if he got another promotion in a previous season.

Also, if anyone has any mind-caulk around, send me some. Gotta stop these leaks somehow.

As I recall, he's now a full Colonel....

Do you remember if that was mentioned in the season-opener, or did it happen last season sometime?

-mid-break return of Season 3?? o.O-

Ah. No, he was promoted to lieutenant colonal in that episode. He was a major at the beginning of the series.

Colonel, which I only know because of the jaunty "Colonel" "Colonel" "Colonel" "SERIOUSLY?" scene.

Well, they always addressed him as "Colonel" even when he was a lieutenant colonel, unless there was a reason for making the distinction in the conversation. But I have it in my mind that he received promotion to full, but couldn't remember when it happened or if I imagined it or whatnot.

BTW, do you have any caulk?

I'm pretty sure he got the full promotion. I'd ask my trusty Sheppard BFF, but she is currently unavailable.

And I do not! I am caulk-less.

Dang. I only had enough to fill up half my leaks. Guess I'll have to go off half-caulked.

I thought this would be a Glitch post. I am disheartened. Woe is me.

My Glitch WIP is absolutely the next thing on my to-do list, ficwise. I'm just a little obligated to finish one thing, and then it's on to "The Indirect Life." *crosses heart, hopes to die, then takes back the hoping to die because being dead will complicate the whole trying-to-write deal*

'ey! It's kinda sorta related...

I thought he was still a Lt. Colonel. Carter got promoted to full colonel at the start of the season, and I'm guessing that was at least partly so that she'd outrank John and the chain of command would be clear.

I don't remember anything about him being promoted.

Okay, yeah, that's probably what I'm thinking of. And if you don't remember him being promoted to full colonel, I'm betting it didn't happen.

I'm not sure what that says about my social life ... or lack thereof. :D

... but, no, I don't think so, because the promotion from Major to Lt. Col. was such a big deal that I'm pretty sure another promotion would have also been memorable.

Hee! I only meant that you pay pretty close attention to canon details, not that you have no life outside SGA!

And I agree, they would probably have made a pretty big deal out of that promotion. At the very least, we'd have seen a few scenes in which John reminded Rodney he'd been promoted just to irk him.

Lt. Colonels are openly addressed by the title 'Colonel'.

Sheppard is a Lt. Colonel.

But don't take my word for it:

I knew that lieutenant colonels are addressed as "colonel." I just needed to know for sure whether he was a full colonel because I didn't want to write him introducing himself by the wrong rank. I have since been assured to my satisfaction that no promotion to full colonel has yet been bestowed upon John Sheppard. But thank you!
