Well of course there doin that....

There making alcohol alot more expensive right before they just outright legalize marijuana.

Then they have tax from both, and weeds a hit since it will be controlled by the gov and almost 100% profit.

ANd they think this will curtail drunk driving Im sure. Im also certain this is a MADD Deal too.
Best part is one can still brew your own. (Which Ive been looking to do anyways since all the beer in this country tastes worse than the horses piss that the leading producer tries to push.)
Another part of the MJ deal was to be able to grow up to 2 plants for personal use. so the tax deal will most likely become a mute point, other than convincing the general pop that another income source is a good deal. ;)

I have a severe feeling that if the lush tax goes thru, the moonshine biusness will be the next moneymaker(Black market of cource! :)

Oh, it's sure to make money. Just money for the people who will sneak alcohol in from other states. Look at all the the times when some state raises tobacco taxes severely, one of the first things that happen is that folks will go to states with lower taxes, buy cigarettes in bulk and bring it back for profit, it'll be the same thing with alcohol. Illegal? Sure. But when there's enough money involved, people will do it anyway.
