Thinking about joining the SCA. I want to learn archery, brewing, and some new cooking recipes. They have a lot of contacts that could help me with both. I don't plan on clanging with da boys cause I have had my fill of that with A.I./Dreamshaven. The local shire has an upcoming meeting in about 2 weeks and I may go check it out.

I bought my bow from http://www.elkridgearchery.com he is awesome to work with and does custom bows. There are several SCA yahoo lists on archery and breweing and such.

Which sshire are you going to join? Ceres has a really good group. You are in Cali again right?

When you buy your bow you need to be prepaired to buy 2 bows or know you don't want to do combat archery. There is a huge war in Bakersfield coming up first part of October. Kimiko has the info on it or I can get it for you :)

Welcomme to the dark side LOL

I will check him out.

It looks like the Shire of Canale. They cover some of Stanislaus and all of Merced county and Hilmar just happens to be right at the edge of both.

I think for now I am just going to get a competition recurve. I'll look at combat archery in practice first before I make a decision on the second bow.As for the war I won't have the cash to spare with garb and supplies, etc... before October.

Dammit! Again!?!

I here there is an archery target range over by MJC. I am gonna stop in there probably a few times before I decide on a bow. I actually have my archery merit badge from the Boys Scouts so I know a good amount of the basic like weight, draw length, dominant eye, etc.... So I won't be totally in the dark when I start out on this.

Yeah I am on Canale's email list and the seem to be very helpful people so far.

I was thinking based on the small amount of research I have done so far of the name Henri(pronounced Onri) Braceeur(The french job title for Brewers). Will that name past the mustard?
