Wedding plans unplanned

Soooo... I was planning a wedding. It was going to be a 80 person thing on a $1,000 budget (because I'm poor even though I'm working) and it was going to be around September of next year.... I have to admit I got rather stressed and had a few mild panic attacks (related to other things also). Various family members were pretty unhappy even this far ( Read more... )

It's been said that weddings are for two people: the bride and the bride's mother. Most intellectuals I know leave their family out of their weddings and keep it between the two people who should really matter. Eloping is still the easy option; if people are going to be pissed at you no matter what you do, then it's best not to let them spoil this special moment by bringing their misery to it. In the end, more people will be proud of you for doing what's true to yourself than following tradition for tradition's sake.

Hope that helps!

I absolutely agree with Bluez.
I can totally understand your frustration with your family. You shouldn't have to feel like a dick.. they're the ones who are supposed to be accomodating to you in this situation, not the other way around! I say elope if you want to. I won't be offended that I won't be there, because it's not about me, or your mom, or your family or anyone else. It's about the you and Ku.
And I hope you have fun with whatever you decide to do.
But... I don't need a visual of you and Ku naked in a bathtub x.x;
even though it would be funny.

Thanks, it does help. I've basically decided to go through with an elopement, but now we've just got to decide when, and I guess where. I need to get my finances sorted out first.
