Aya mentioned you...he said you might have a ride so I can get to Violet City faster?

[Mamoru's eyebrows lift just a little. Well, that does at least give him pretty solid evidence he really is a friend of theirs.]

[Another brief pause.] He's right; I have a Venusaur that can be ridden to reduce your travel time. You're in New Bark Town?

Yes, I am. The help would be appreciated given how inappropriately dressed I am for the heat.

Have you considered removing your jacket?

It'll only help a little.

[He'll do it in a moment.]

How unfortunate. May I have an introduction? I would prefer not to send one of my beloved companions to meet a stranger.

[The Budew waves a little in introduction as well.]

[Mamoru takes out a Pokéball and releases his Venusaur. The Pokémon lets out a low roar of greeting.]

This is who you'll be meeting along the way. Treat him kindly. He'll stop when he needs to rest and resume course when ready.

I'm not the sort of guy to be mean to animals, even if they're strange looking.

[Not that you'll have a choice with something over 200 lbs and six feet tall. There are reasons he's sending Venusaur and not his Ponyta.]

That's good to know. Then, excuse me for a moment.

[He turns to the Venusaur and explains the mission. The Venusaur checks the video image again to memorize who he's looking for and sounds his acceptance of the task. Mamoru looks back to Chloe.]

He won't reach you before Cherrygrove City. However, if you move at a steady clip, you should reach one another in four to five days. He'll then save you two to three days' time on the final leg of your journey.

[He'll be a little off guard by that size, but he'll deal as best he can. Chloe watches Mamoru give the directions without saying a word.]
